Great news for EU-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The Ideas Powered for Business SME Fund 2025 is now open for applications. This EU-backed grant, supported by the European Commission and managed by the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), provides financial aid to help SMEs safeguard their intellectual property (IP) rights.
What Does the SME Fund Cover
Eligible SMEs can receive grants for:
- Trademarks
- Designs
- Patents
- Plant Varieties for the agriculture, biotechnology, and horticulture sectors
- IP Scan Service for assessing and strengthening your IP strategy.
Who Can Apply
All SMEs based in the EU - regardless of industry - can apply. Whether you are a startup or an established business, securing your IP is essential for long-term growth and competitiveness.

About Xenia Kasapi
Xenia holds a Bachelor of Laws from The University of Sheffield and a Master of Commercial Law from the University of Bristol. She is a member of the Cyprus Bar Association and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, with expertise in intellectual property, data protection, and corporate law. She is also a PhD candidate at the University of Cyprus, researching intellectual property law.
