Xenia Kasapi, Head of Intellectual Property & Data Protection, was a speaker at the Cyprus Copyright Law Union (EDPI Cyprus) seminar which took place on the 31st October 2019 at the University of Cyprus.
During the seminar, which was impeccably organised by Dr.Tatiana Eleni Synodinou (Professor in Law at the University of Cyprus), issues about Directive 2019/790 of Intellectual Property in the Digital Single Market were mainly raised and discussed.
Always being at the forefront of Intellectual Property matters, Ms. Kasapi discussed various issues related to the existing legal framework in Text and Data Mining. Furthermore, the necessity of the amendment of the current legal framework has been stressed as well as the positive impact of the two exception on Text and Data Mining for the purpose of scientific research or for any other purpose which is included in the provisions of the new EU Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market.
